NY FORWARD GRANT PRESS RELEASE:
Richfield to Hold Final Local Planning Committee Meeting for the NY Forward Strategic Investment Plan
October 23, 2024, Richfield, NY - The Local Planning Committee (LPC) for the Town of Richfield’s NY Forward (NYF) program will hold its fifth and final meeting on October 30, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Richfield Springs Central School located at 93 W Main Street, Richfield Springs, NY 13439. At this meeting, the LPC will formally evaluate each project proposed for NY Forward funding and finalize the slate of projects to be included in the Town’s Strategic Investment Plan. The meeting is open to observers from the public, with an opportunity for public comment at the end of the meeting.
The LPC is co-chaired by Larry Frigault, Town of Richfield Supervisor and Carolyn A. Lewis, Director of Legislative Affairs & Grants for Bassett Medical Center and Mohawk Valley REDC Board Member and consists of 11 other members representing a diverse cross section of the Richfield community.

The Town of Richfield was selected by the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) to receive a $4.5 million award from New York State Governor Kathy Hochul through the NY Forward (NYF) program. Investment from this program will allow Richfield to develop a Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) and implement key catalytic projects to advance the community’s vision for downtown improvements.
NY Forward was launched in 2022 to support a more equitable downtown recovery for New York’s smaller communities, with a focus on hamlets, villages, and neighborhood-scale commercial centers. NY Forward is led by the Department of State, in close partnership with Empire State Development, NYS Homes and Community Renewal, and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
